Adoption Process

At FurHaven, we want the adoption process to feel exciting, simple, and stress-free — while also making sure each puppy is placed with the perfect family. We encourage all potential families to come meet the puppies in person if you are located near Jefferson, GA (or within driving distance). Nothing compares to seeing their personalities firsthand!

Step 1: Reach Out / Submit an Inquiry

Start by contacting us through our website or social media to let us know what you’re looking for (male/female preference, timing, breed, etc.). We’re happy to answer questions and help guide you toward the best fit.

Step 2: Meet the Puppies (In Person Encouraged!)

If you’re local or able to travel, we highly encourage in-person visits. This is the best way to connect with the puppies and get a feel for which one fits your family’s lifestyle and personality.

Step 3: Reserve Your Puppy ($200 Hold Fee)

Once you’re ready to move forward, we require a $200 non-refundable hold fee to reserve:

• a specific puppy or

• your preferred gender

This hold fee ensures your spot and helps us plan fairly for all families on our list.

Step 4: Puppy Updates

After your puppy is reserved, we’ll provide updates as they grow — including photos, milestones, and general progress so you can feel part of the journey until adoption day.

Step 5: Go-Home Day (8 Weeks Old)

Puppies go home at 8 weeks old, once they are ready for a smooth transition into their new home.

Each puppy will go home with:

• AKC registration papers

• Confirmation of vet health check and first vaccinations

• A blanket that has been with them since birth (for comfort and familiar scent)

• A bag of their current food

• A small toy
